General Etiquette

Only start a project if you can complete it yourself

Each project starts with an individual responsible for completing the project and making decisions that can impact the quality of the result. It's advisable for that person to be able to complete the project alone, without external help. Only then to either find a team of skilled individuals or delegate part of the project to a contributor. Scope out the work that needs to be done and set yourself a deadline for the completion of the project.

Does your project require skills you don't have?

Sometimes projects might emerge from a conversation or you could have an idea of what to work on but it needs someone else with a complementary skillset. In that case, find a partner during a 1:1 session or approach someone from the community who may want to team up. Decide on who of you two should be able to make decisions on which domains and scope out a project you can start together.

Retrospective upon completion

After each project, make sure you (and your team) take enough time to review how it went. What worked well? What could be improved? If you would work on a similar project again, how would you approach it?
